Julie Barrette graduated as a forest engineer from Laval University (B. Sc. A, 1999), where she also pursued a master\u2019s degree in wood science (M. Sc., 2003).<\/p>\r\n
From 2003 to 2007, she worked in Scotland as a European project manager. After completing her doctoral studies in silviculture and forest yield at Laval University (Ph. D., 2013), she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Canadian Forest Service for 5 years.<\/p>\r\n
Since summer 2018, she has been a researcher at the Direction de la recherche foresti\u00e8re in the silviculture and yield of natural forests team. She also codirects graduate students at both Laval University and the Universit\u00e9 of Qu\u00e9bec, in addition to being an associate member of the Centre de recherche sur les mat\u00e9riaux renouvelables (CRMR).<\/p>\r\n
Her research focuses mainly on the quality of wood from plantations. She is also interested in growth and productivity, carbon storage and return in monetary value of plantations.<\/p>\r\n
