Salt licks<\/p>\n<h1>Section 57<\/h1>\n<p>A strip of woodland at least 60 m wide and at least 7 m high linking a the salt lick to the residual forest must be preserved intact and kept in place until the adjacent stands have reached a height of 7 m.<\/p>\n<p>No forest development activity may be carried out in that strip of woodland.\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/drapeau-texte.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"18\" height=\"18\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"disposition\">\n<h2>1<\/h2>\n<h4>Objective<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To preserve the integrity of a wildlife habitat<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Additional information<\/h4>\n<p>It is important to note that the definition of the term \u201cforest development activity\u201d in <a href=\"https:\/\/mrnf.gouv.qc.ca\/en\/RADF\/guide\/chapter-i\/section-2\/\">section 2<\/a> of the Regulation means that the standards set out in sections <a href=\"https:\/\/mrnf.gouv.qc.ca\/en\/RADF\/guide\/chapter-ii\/section-3\/\">3<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/mrnf.gouv.qc.ca\/en\/RADF\/guide\/chapter-ii\/section-5\/\">5<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/mrnf.gouv.qc.ca\/en\/RADF\/guide\/chapter-ii\/section-19\/\">19 to 22<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/mrnf.gouv.qc.ca\/en\/RADF\/guide\/chapter-iv\/section-47\/\">47<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/mrnf.gouv.qc.ca\/en\/RADF\/guide\/chapter-iv\/section-50\/\">50<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/mrnf.gouv.qc.ca\/en\/RADF\/guide\/chapter-iv\/section-52\/\">52<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/mrnf.gouv.qc.ca\/en\/RADF\/guide\/chapter-iv\/section-54\/\">54<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/mrnf.gouv.qc.ca\/en\/RADF\/guide\/chapter-iv\/section-55\/\">55<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/mrnf.gouv.qc.ca\/en\/RADF\/guide\/chapter-iv\/section-57\/\">57<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/mrnf.gouv.qc.ca\/en\/RADF\/guide\/chapter-iv\/section-59\/\">59<\/a> do not apply to the repair, maintenance or closure of forest roads or to the control of fires, insect epidemics and cryptogamic diseases.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Art057_anglais-web.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Rules governing forest development activities alongside a salt lick\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Art057_anglais-web.jpg\" alt=\"Rules governing forest development activities alongside a salt lick \" width=\"380\" height=\"285\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Figure 57<\/span>\u00a0Rules governing forest development activities alongside a salt lick<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>This section does not apply to the holder of a forestry permit issued for public utility works. However, before forest development activities required for public utility works and not authorized by this section may be carried out in the strip of woodland referred to in the first paragraph, the Minister consults the Minister responsible for the administration of the<a title=\"This link opens a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/legisquebec.gouv.qc.ca\/en\/ShowDoc\/cs\/C-61.1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Act\u00a0respecting the conservation and development of wildlife <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/lien_externe.png\" alt=\"This link opens a new window\" \/><\/a>\u00a0(chapter C-61.1) before issuing the permit.\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/drapeau-texte.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"18\" height=\"18\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"disposition\">\n<h2>2<\/h2>\n<h4>Objective<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To allow certain forest development activities in or near a particular place<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Explanations<\/h4>\n<p>A person holding a forestry permit may carry out the forest development activities required for public utility works in the strip of woodland at least 60 m wide connecting the salt lick to the residual forest. Before issuing such a permit, the Minister responsible for applying the <a title=\"This link opens a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/legisquebec.gouv.qc.ca\/en\/ShowDoc\/cs\/A-18.1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sustainable Forest Development Act <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/lien_externe.png\" alt=\"This link opens a new window\" \/><\/a>\u00a0must consult the Minister responsible for applying the <a title=\"This link opens a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/legisquebec.gouv.qc.ca\/en\/ShowDoc\/cs\/C-61.1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Act respecting the conservation and development of wildlife <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/lien_externe.png\" alt=\"This link opens a new window\" \/><\/a>\u00a0to obtain his or her opinion of the mitigation measures that have been recommended to protect the salt lick. In light of the opinion, the Minister responsible for applying the Sustainable Forest Development Act may then give authorization, specifying which forest development activities are authorized and setting the conditions that must be met when they are carried out.<\/p>\n<h4>Additional information<\/h4>\n<p>The <a title=\"This link opens a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/legisquebec.gouv.qc.ca\/en\/ShowDoc\/cs\/A-18.1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sustainable Forest Development Act <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/lien_externe.png\" alt=\"This link opens a new window\" \/><\/a> states that a forestry permit is required to carry out certain forest development activities in forests in the domain of the State (<a href=\"http:\/\/legisquebec.gouv.qc.ca\/en\/ShowDoc\/cs\/A-18.1\/#se:73\">section 73<\/a>).
