Salmon rivers<\/p>\n<h1>Section 55<\/h1>\n<p>A strip of woodland at least 60 m wide must be preserved on both sides of the river or part of a river designated by the Minister as a salmon river. The strip of woodland is measured from the limit that separates the stand from the environment to be protected or, in the presence of a riparian ecotone, from the limit of the ecotone farthest from the environment to be protected. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/drapeau-texte.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"18\" height=\"18\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"disposition\">\n<h2>1<\/h2>\n<h4>Objectives<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To maintain landscape quality<br \/>\nTo contribute to the quality of the experience in the forest<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>Additional information<\/h4>\n<p>Each year, the Minist\u00e8re des For\u00eats, de la Faune et des Parcs (MFFP) publishes, on its website, the main rules in force for <a title=\"This link opens a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mrnf.gouv.qc.ca\/english\/publications\/online\/wildlife\/fishing-regulations\/index.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sport Fishing in Qu\u00e9bec <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/lien_externe.png\" alt=\"Ce lien ouvre une nouvelle fen\u00eatre\" \/><\/a>\u00a0(including salmon fishing). The rules include a (in French only)\u00a0<a title=\"This link opens a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mrnf.gouv.qc.ca\/publications\/enligne\/faune\/reglementation-peche\/pdf\/impression\/Peche-Saumon.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">list and a map of all salmon rivers <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/lien_externe.png\" alt=\"Ce lien ouvre une nouvelle fen\u00eatre\" \/><\/a>\u00a0. It is important to contact the MFFP\u2019s regional representatives for detailed information on the stretches of salmon river alongside which a strip of woodland at least 60 m wide must be preserved during forest development activities.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Art055_anglais-web.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Rules governing forest development activities alongside a salmon river\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Art055_anglais-web.jpg\" alt=\"Rules governing forest development activities alongside a salmon river\" width=\"380\" height=\"285\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Figure 55<\/span> Rules governing forest development activities alongside a salmon river<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Forest development activities are prohibited in that strip of woodland, unless prior authorization is obtained from the Minister in accordance with <a href=\"http:\/\/legisquebec.gouv.qc.ca\/en\/ShowDoc\/cs\/A-18.1#se:39\">section 39<\/a> of the <a title=\"This link opens a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/legisquebec.gouv.qc.ca\/en\/ShowDoc\/cs\/A-18.1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sustainable Forest Development Act <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/lien_externe.png\" alt=\"Ce lien ouvre une nouvelle fen\u00eatre\" \/><\/a>\u00a0(chapter A-18.1).\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/drapeau-texte.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"18\" height=\"18\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"disposition\">\n<h2>2<\/h2>\n<h4>Objective<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To allow certain forest development activities in or near a particular place<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>Explanations<\/h4>\n<p>A person may carry out forest development activities in the strip of woodland on both sides of a river or portion of a river designated as a salmon river, provided authorization is obtained from the Minister responsible for applying the <a title=\"This link opens a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/legisquebec.gouv.qc.ca\/en\/ShowDoc\/cs\/A-18.1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sustainable Forest Development Act <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/lien_externe.png\" alt=\"Ce lien ouvre une nouvelle fen\u00eatre\" \/><\/a> .
