Evolving Business Models for a Successful Energy Transition

Chair

Mihaela Stefanov

Boralex

This session will be offered in French and in English.

The energy transition brings its share of challenges and opportunities that we must seize. For the transition to be successful, it will have to consider the interdependence of ecological, energy, economic and social dimensions, in addition to ensuring equity in access to energy resources and a fair social and territorial distribution of costs and benefits. To achieve this, economic development must be in line with the environmental values of Québec and elsewhere. Companies are already adopting evolving business models in line with this new economic reality.

Introduction part 2

Transforming its business model to remain climate, financial and socially relevant

Conference details

Over the past 15 years, Energir has evolved from a natural gas distributor to a diversified energy company. Some of the reasons for its success in the past are not the same today. In the context of a climate emergency, the company sees this as an opportunity to do things differently, while remaining committed to its energy distribution activities in Québec. Energir has decisively invested in its own transformation by making every effort to contribute to the success of a fair energy transition for all. But questioning a business model and redefining it is not a simple task. In this session, the discussion will focus on the successes and challenges of transforming a business model in this energy transition era.

The presentation will be an opportunity to discuss in more detail this promising project for an entire region. It will also address the various aspects of the organization's strategy to achieve carbon neutrality, to which it is committed by 2050, as well as its other initiatives in the areas of environment, society and governance.
