The implementation of forestry assisted migration faces multiple uncertainties, notably surrounding seed sourcing and seedling production, but also regarding silvicultural strategies and inclusion within forest management. The DREAM framework (Desired REgeneration through Assisted Migration) was developed to reduce these uncertainties and propose a structured experimental approach for testing forestry assisted migration scenarios (Royo et al. 2023). It relies on the integration of climate and forest dynamics modelling, plant physiology and silviculture. The DREAM approach is growing into an international network of experimental sites, with four sites located in Québec (Canada) and five in Wisconsin (USA). At the Direction de la recherche forestière (Ministère des Ressources naturelles et des Forêts, Government of Québec), we manage two of the Québec sites, one of which was planted in 2018 (Lac-des- Amanites) and the second in 2024 (Lac-à-Charles). Diversity in tree species is increasingly recognized as a key to the resilience and adaptation of managed forests (Messier et al. 2013). Therefore, each site presents a diverse mix of conifer and broadleaved species, selected for their different functional traits and their ecological and socio-economic values.
