Summary:

The Qullinaaraaluk Ni-Cu-Co showing was discovered in August 2000 during 1:250,000 mapping of the Vernon Lake and Minto Lake areas. The discovery opens new horizons in the search for nickel deposits in Québec's Far North. Exploration for metallic deposits, which was largely centred on greenstone belts, can now be extended to unconventional areas such as metamorphic granitoid rocks. The Qullinaaraaluk Showing therefore represents new exploration potential for the Far North, warranting further evaluation in order to be better understood.
