Turcotte, Audrey

Audrey Turcotte is a biologist who graduated from the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (B.Sc.) in 2004. During her studies, Audrey worked as a research assistant at the university’s plant ecology laboratory. In 2007, the institution awarded her a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Renewable Resources. She then began doctoral studies in Environmental Sciences before being recruited in 2010 by the Ministère des Transports, where she worked as a research advisor. In 2014, she returned to forestry at the Secteur des operations régionales of the Ministère des Ressources naturelles et des Forêts as a biologist, where she coordinated the subject of species at risk. In 2018, she continued her professional path at the Direction de la protection des forêts as a conservation project manager.

In 2024, she joined the Direction de la recherche forestière as a botanist and associate curator of the Herbier du Québec. Her work focuses on the floristics and taxonomy of the vascular flora of Québec and eastern North America, as well as on the conservation and enhancement of collections. She is particularly interested in the knowledge and protection of plant species at risk, especially in forest environments, as well as the introduction of exotic species. She contributes to the Herbier’s website and collections database. She also contributed to the publication of the third edition of the Petite flore forestière du Québec and is the author of about twenty reports, guides, policy documents, scientific papers and professional articles.
